Using the process of cyanotype, I dye sheets of cotton fabric with the light sensitive chemical to then compost on top of for various amounts of time. This allows for the discarded raw materials to decompose and react to the cyanotype chemicals, creating an array of abstract forms imprinted into the fibers of the cotton sheets. I use compost not only for it's organic composition, but also for the transformative nature it possesses. Existing as one form to then decay and be birthed as a new form again, soil. This cycle is figurative to our own cycles of life and death and the transformation we experience when leaving our physical bodies to manifest into our spiritual form.
