Elson Bickford (b. 1993, Buckingham County, VA) is a visual artist based in Richmond, Virginia. He is a graduate from Virginia Commonwealth University School of Arts with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography. Currently, Elson works on staff as Candela Books and Gallery’s intern and gallery representative for Oakwood Arts 2019 Solstice Art Auction, where he has a forthcoming exhibition in their silent auction (Richmond, VA). Additionally, Bickford is the darkroom studio monitor for the Visual Arts Center of Richmond and has been for the past year in their workspace. Previously, he has exhibited at The Anderson Gallery (Richmond, VA), Atkinson Museum, (Farmville, VA), Drexel University (Philadelphia, PA), and many others. His rural upbringings have enriched his creative expression by highlighting the mutually affective impact humans and nature have on each other. His work follows this duality through the methods of photography, film, alternative processes, sound, sculpture, and installation.
